What is a Green Team

Welcome to our Del Lago Green Team page. My name is Cory Roberts, and this will be my second year leading the Green Team. We also have our first Student Leader this year – 6th grader Ashley Tuttle. She is an exceptional young lady and we are extremely happy to have her representing the team on campus!

The Green Team is an excellent way to teach our kids about environmental sustainability. There are many ways, both small and large, that we can all positively affect our communities. Teaching our children about waste, water conservation, and seasonal foods will have a lasting impact throughout their lives.

Our hope for the 2023-2024 school year is to organize a few clean-up hikes and schedule some educational events, both on and off campus. The Del Lago recycling program can become a strong educational powerhouse, all we need is YOU!

SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN ALL YEAR!
(Green Team Participation form can be found on your Family Account page under Information Forms)

HOW IT WORKS
Recycle at Home tips from Waste Management

Everyone uses aluminum cans and plastic bottles at home. Dropping these items off at school is an easy, worthwhile way to make some money for our school! Families can drop off their bags of recyclables at the front of the school on designated Green Team collection days.

COLLECTION GUIDELINES

For now, we can only accept plastic bottles and aluminum cans with a CRV label. Juice jugs and white plastic beverage containers are fine too. Milk jugs are a great example of "white" plastic!

  • crush containers to maximize space and minimize the need for plastic bags
  • try to empty all drink bottles & rinse out milk jugs
  • NO GLASS, please! broken glass is hazardous for little fingers
  • have fun!

We will be collecting cans and plastic beverage containers every other Friday morning, with the exception of holidays and rainy days.  Team members should plan to be on campus by 7:30am.  There will be gloves and hand sanitizer provided to all who participate.
